Authentic Nepali Style Cauliflower Curry!!

I made cauliflower curry for dinner yesterday. I know this is the most basic recipe for us Nepalese but there are people out there who would love to try it out. Having said that, I used slightly different ingredients in terms of spices and tried to give it more personal touch and flavor. Here you go guys, follow the steps below if you want to learn basics yet authentic Cauliflower Curry.

Things you will need:

  • Fenugreek Seeds (1 tea spoon)
  • Mustard Seeds (1 tea spoon)
  • Cumin Seeds (1 tea spoon)
  • Serrano Pepper/Green Chilies (2-3, finely chopped)
  • Cauliflower (1 and 1/2 lbs, cut in medium sizes)
  • Tomatoes (3 medium sized, finely chopped)
  • Ginger-Garlic (1 table spoon)
  • Meat Masala (1 table spoon)
  • Cumin-Coriander Powder (1 table spoon)
  • Red Chili Powder (1/2 table spoon)
  • Potatoes (2 large, cut in cube size)
  • Water (1/2 cup)
  • Salt (according to taste)
  • Oil (3 table spoons)
Directions:
  1. Heat oil and add fenugreek, cumin and mustard seeds. Once seeds become brownish black add potatoes, salt and turmeric. Fry until golden brown.
  2. Add cauliflower and all of the remaining ingredients. Do not stir, cover and cook on a low heat for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Stir 2-3 times (make sure to stir gently to prevent breakage of cauliflower). 
  4. Enjoy with rice or bread :)
